Ferndrop

Terms of use

Last updated: 25 October 2026

1. The service

Ferndrop (“the service”) lets you send a file to someone else, either directly between browsers or through a link that stays available for 48 hours. It is operated by Idleforest Unipessoal, LDA, Lisbon, Portugal (“we”). By using it you accept these terms.

2. What you may send

You may only send files you have the right to send. You must not send, or help others to send:

3. Limits and availability

Link files are deleted 48 hours after the upload finishes, and there is a size limit per file and a limit on how much one person can send per day. These limits can change. Executable file types can’t be sent as links. We don’t back files up and don’t promise the service will always be available; we may remove a file earlier if we need to. Keep your own copy of anything important.

4. Reporting and removal

Anyone can report a file using the report form or by writing to hello@idleforest.com. Reports about copyright need your contact details and a statement that you are the rights holder or their agent.

We review reports promptly. If a file is illegal or breaks these terms we delete it, and we keep a record of what we removed and why. We may block repeat offenders. Where the law requires, we tell the authorities about suspected serious crime, and we answer valid orders and requests from them.

If you think a file was removed by mistake, write to hello@idleforest.com with the link and we will look again. Files sent directly never reach our servers, so we can’t remove them.

Our single point of contact for authorities and for users, as required by the EU Digital Services Act, is hello@idleforest.com. We can be contacted in English.

5. Sponsors and links

If we show a sponsor, it is labelled “Sponsor”. We don’t endorse sponsors’ products and aren’t responsible for the sites they link to.

6. Our responsibility

You are responsible for the files you send. We are not responsible for what users send. We provide the service as it is, without promises beyond those the law requires. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law, or liability that can’t be limited by law. Within those limits, we are not liable for lost files, lost profit or indirect loss.

7. Privacy

How we handle personal data is explained in the privacy policy.

8. Changes and law

We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version. Portuguese law applies and the courts of Lisbon have jurisdiction, but if you are a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and any right to use the courts there. Consumers can also use the EU online dispute resolution platform and Portuguese consumer dispute resolution bodies.
